R/H is a charming Finnish fashion label, founded in 2010. Their unique world of colors, shapes and relaxed style developed into a collection rich on playful details combined with nordic minimalism, insightful feminine cuts and colorful prints that are easy to wear. R/H plays with the contrasts of masculine and feminine through mixing soft materials with rough details. The R/H woman is a balanced individual with a creative mind.

R/H`s garments are always made of fine materials such as silk, bamboo jersey and ecological reindeer leather, all combined with beautiful prints. The designers get inspired by atmospheres, music and the female anatomy. All the details, silhouettes and cuts in the clothes are chosen with careful consideration  - and you can feel and see it when trying on their garments. R/H designers Hanna Riiheläinen and Emilia Hernesniemi met while studying in the University of Art & Design in Helsinki. After working in different fields of fashion and design, Riiheläinen at Zac Posen in New York and Hernesniemi in Berlin at Agency V they decided to launch their own label. The letters R and H come from the first letters of both designers` last names.

What inspires You?

R/H is inspired by old and new music, atmospheres, the female body and the Scandinavian summer sky.

How would You describe Finnish Fashion?

It is very typical for Finnish fashion to be very individual. All designer aesthetics evolve from similar elements but the outcome is always different. Finnish labels are very unlike each other. In fact that is what is common  to them all.

Favorite Designers?

Alexander Wang, Stine Goya, Perks and Mini.

What are you favorite materials to work with?

We love to work with materials with an origin. Finnish reindeer leather and locally produced jersey fabrics give our collection originality and makes us sleep better at night.

What does Fashion mean to you?

It is a form of modern art, a tool for self expression and of course something very essential for us. Fashion is about freedom to choose, a way to communicate. Does that make sense?

What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?

The idea behind it.

When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?

Hanna always knew she wanted to design clothes. I always knew I wanted to do something creative, something "outside the box" - traveling, music videos, prints, graphic design, clothes or even furniture

What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?

No idea, I guess it was not the most memorable one.

What are some of your favorite fashion websites, magazines, or books?

We love

What advice do you have for aspiring fashion designers?

Read books, live life, eat food and work hard!

Noora studies Fashion Design in Finland, but is, currently, an exchange student at Winchester School of Art
